Third Round Italian: Benvenuti conquers Pomposa. Malone fourth place in SM4.

On Sunday, June 4th, the third round of the Italian Championship was held at the Circuito di Pomposa in San Giuseppe di Comacchio (FE). The day was characterized by clouds and a grey sky in the afternoon, but fortunately, the rain spared the races.

In the morning's SM 4 category qualifiers, Marco Malone #52 secured the fourth starting position on the grid, closely followed by Guido Cilla #173 in fifth place; Matteo Giacobbe #41 was further back, starting in twelfth position.

In the first heat of the afternoon, Malone started well and moved into second position, then finished in third place. Cilla also started well but was forced to retire due to a crash while in sixth position. Giacobbe managed to recover two positions and finished in tenth place.

In the second heat, Malone started in fourth position and struggled to find the right feel for the track in Ferrara, finishing in fifth. Teammate Cilla was forced to retire due to a broken chain, while Giacobbe finished the heat in twelfth place.

Andrea Benvenuti #263 triumphed in the SM Junior category: after taking pole in qualifying, Andrea won both heats of the day despite a poor start in race two which saw him make a great comeback against Terraneo.

Michael Diodato #2 finished the day in fourth position after a crash in race one which dropped him to seventh, and a fourth-place finish in race two.

"My compliments go to Andrea Benvenuti, who triumphed at what can be called his 'home track' and firmly maintains his leader's position. Malone was unable to express his full potential, and unfortunately, we lost the red plate. Cilla was truly unlucky and could have had an excellent race. Now the goal is to focus on Ortona and give our best,” commented Team Principal Gilda Benazzi.

Next appointment is Sunday, June 11th at the Pista Azzurra in Borgo Ticino for the third round of the Interregional Championship.

See you soon and Gas!
