Third round of the Italian Supermoto Championship in Viterbo: track record and victory for Malone

Another victorious weekend for the FRT Racing 2 team in Viterbo for the third round of the Italian Supermoto Championship.

Marco Malone reconfirms his leadership in the S4 class: after securing pole position in the morning's timed practice, Marco crashed in race 1 while in the lead, but he didn't give up and finished in third place after a series of record laps to catch up to the race leaders Arduini and Sanchioni. In race 2, Malone regained his focus and dominated the heat, also setting the track record with 55.638.

Malone finished in first place for the day and maintains the red plate with a 270-point lead over Sanchioni in second place.

A good race also for Junior Andrea Benvenuti: after an eleventh-place finish in qualifying, he managed to make a comeback in both races with two perfect overtakes that allowed him to secure eighth place for the day in the 85cc class.

In the S3 category, Giacomo Bolognesi struggled more to find the right feeling with the Lazian track. Giacomo finished in fifth place for the day.

Team Manager Nicola Ferranti's comment after the race at the Lazian circuit: "A very intense and exciting weekend. Too bad for Malone's crash in race one, but he didn't give up and nearly regained the lead. We are working well and seeing concrete results. Andrea Benvenuti also did well, constantly improving. A shame for Bolognesi, who wasn't at his best on this track."

The next event is scheduled for June 27th with the first round of the European S4 Championship in Ortona (CH) with our champion Marco Malone.
