Second round of the Italian Supermoto Championship in Viterbo

On Sunday, April 28th, the second round of the Italian Supermoto Championship took place at the beautiful setting of the Viterbo Circuit.

In S1, Andrea Occhini #51 suffered a bad fall in the off-road section during free practice. Unfortunately, he was unable to participate in the race, and we wish him a speedy recovery.

Fabrizio Bartolini #110 had to defend the team's colors alone: after the seventh-fastest time in timed practice, he finished race 1 in seventh and race 2 in sixth place, earning him third place overall for the day in the Italian Championship standings. He also took third place in the overall Italian riders' standings.

In the S4 category, a consistent Iacopo Arduini #05 secured a second place in race 1 and a third place in race 2, allowing him to once again stand on the third step of the podium for the day, just like in Ottobiano. He also holds third position in the Championship standings.

Marzio Ravaioli #64 had a bit of bad luck in S5: after a fifth-place in qualifying, he finished race 1 in fourth position but was forced to withdraw from race 2 due to a technical issue.

In S2, Marko Ukota #36, after a ninth-place finish in qualifying, finished twelfth in race 1 due to a collision with Medizza, and eleventh in race 2, despite ankle pain after the collision in the previous race.

Fabrizio Bartolini #110 Frt Racing 2 rider 'A very positive weekend in Viterbo despite a not-so-great start due to an injury sustained by my teammate Andrea Occhini, to whom I wish a big good luck and a speedy recovery. The track is very technical, starting with the challenging dirt section. On the asphalt, I'm setting very good times, but in the off-road section, I'm struggling a bit, and I finish qualifying in 7th place. In race 1, I held 5th position until past mid-race, then a small mistake made me lose a couple of positions, and I finished in 7th place. Race 2. I feel very good and defended 5th position until the sixth lap. I'm third among the Italians and setting times similar to Sammartin, who is ahead of me. Unfortunately, I couldn't fend off Sitniansky's attacks and conceded fifth place, but in terms of the Italian championship standings, it changes nothing, and I finished the day in third place behind Sammartin and Monticelli. A podium that gives me motivation for the rest of the season and turns around a weekend that didn't start in the best way. Thanks as always to my team, and see you in Busca on June 2nd.'

Nicola Ferranti Team Manager FRT Racing 2

'A difficult Sunday for the team, Andrea's fall was really unwelcome. Well done to Bicio who finished a good race and also to the rest of the team. I wish Andrea a speedy recovery. Now we're back to work for the third round in Busca.'

Next event: June 2nd in Busca (CN).
