Fourth round of the Italian Championship in Ortona

In a 'scorching' Ortona, the fourth stage of the Italian Supermoto Championship took place on Sunday, July 3rd.

In the morning timed practice sessions for the S4 category, despite the extreme temperatures, Marco Malone #52 managed to snatch pole position, stopping the clock at 1.00.999.

Teammate Guido Cilla #173 also set a good time, securing eleventh place on the grid.

In race one, Malone started in second position. He then finished the heat in third, just behind Surra and Sciarretta. Guido Cilla had a good start, moving into eighth position and then finishing the race in seventh place.

In race two, Malone made a good start but was then overtaken by Vandi and finished fourth. He then started a comeback, reaching second position, behind Surra.

Cilla had a poor start, dropping to fourteenth position. He then finished thirteenth, suffering from the oppressive heat.

In the overall standings of the day, Malone finished in second place while Cilla finished in eleventh.

In the Championship, Malone remains second in the standings with 240 points behind Vandi, while Cilla is in ninth position.

In the S Junior category, Andrea Benvenuti #263 achieved the fifth fastest time in qualifying.

At the start of the first heat, he started well and moved into third position, which he then had to concede on the last lap, finishing fourth.

In race two, Andrea didn't get the right start and finished the race in sixth position.

Following some disqualifications, Benvenuti secured third place for the day and once again holds the red plate as leader of the Junior category.

'It was a positive weekend for Marco Malone, who managed to improve his track record from the 2021 races. Unfortunately, victory eluded us, but we are very competitive and the season is not over yet. The heat really challenged Cilla and Benvenuti, especially in the second heats, but they still managed the situation well.'
