First round of the Italian Supermoto Championship: Malone conquers Ortona
On Sunday, April 11th, the Italian Supermoto Championship kicked off at the beautiful Circuito Internazionale D’Abruzzo in Ortona (CH).

In the S4 category, Marco Malone #52 found an excellent feel with the bike and the track already during Saturday's free practice. In Sunday's timed practice, he managed to stop the clock at 1.01.111 on his first qualifying lap.
In Race 1, despite the double start after a crash in the back, he managed to immediately take the lead, followed by Kevin Vandi on a TM who then had a slide that made him drop several positions.
Malone then finished solo with a 9-second lead over Arduini.

In the second race, after another perfect start, Marco took the lead and finished with a 6-second advantage over Vandi.

Giacomo Bolognesi #31 had a bit less luck in the S3 under 24 category: after an excellent second fastest time in qualifying, he finished third in Race 1, but due to a false start in Race 2, he finished seventh. Giacomo ended the day in fifth place overall.

This was also the first Championship race for Junior Andrea Benvenuti #263 on his KTM 85: Andrea managed to navigate through the large group of Juniors, placing twelfth overall for the day.

Nicola Ferranti, FRT2 Team Manager, commented: "It was a very positive weekend for our team; we worked well, and Malone delivered two impeccable races. Too bad for Bolognesi, and well done to Junior Andrea Benvenuti on his first Championship race. Now we are back to work for the next round in Ottobiano on May 9th."
