First Stage of the European S4 Championship in Ortona

On Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 June, the first round of the S4 European Championship was held at the International Circuit of Abruzzo in Ortona (CH), concurrently with the first round of the World and European Championships.

This was the home track for our standard-bearer Marco Malone and the race debut for the FRT2-branded Honda Crf 450 2021. Saturday's qualifying immediately highlighted Malone's excellent form, as he clocked 1.01.141, ahead of Vandi with 1.01.492.

On Sunday, Malone took to the track with his characteristic determination: in race one, after an imperfect start, he overtook Spaniard Ruiz Jimenez on the first lap and took the lead, finishing eight seconds ahead of Vandi and Sanchioni's TMs.

Race two was unfortunately unlucky; after starting in third position, Malone was catching up to Ruiz Jimenez and Sanchioni but due to a technical problem, he finished the race in fifth position. Malone still secured second place for the day, one point behind Sanchioni.

Gilda Benazzi, Team Principal of FRT Racing 2, commented: "It was a positive weekend; we worked well but were unlucky in race two due to a technical issue. Now we're back to work for the next round of the Italian Championship on July 11 in Pomposa and for the second round of the European Championship in Forcarei on August 22."

See you soon…and full throttle!
