New Honda CRF450R 2017
A new era for the Honda CRF450R has dawned, marking the first complete redesign in the model's eight-year history: the 2017 model year brings an engine with 11% more power than its predecessor and greater torque across the entire powerband, a completely new frame (with redesigned chassis geometry, lower center of gravity), 49mm Showa fork with steel springs, a titanium fuel tank, and new, smoother, more aerodynamic plastics. Additionally, the racing kit includes electric start (optional). "This is a complete redesign of the CRF450R.
Nothing has been left to chance; we've poured all our energy into offering customers a motocross bike that's a step ahead of the rest. We focused on creating a bike with superior engine performance, exceptional rear-wheel traction and grip, and a low center of gravity, achieving a 5% improvement in acceleration compared to the previous model. The motto behind this development was "undisputed holeshot queen." We are now proud to offer a bike with this level of performance to all motocross enthusiasts."
This is how M. Uchiyama, the Project Leader for the 2017 CRF450R, introduces the new bike. The new CRF450R was, in fact, developed based on data collected from Honda Teams in the AMA and MXGP championships, with the goal of becoming the fastest bike to launch from the gate. Its design was carried out by HRC, also through continuous comparison with the current 2016 model in a series of side-by-side starting simulation tests. The result is that the new model covers the 0-10m sprint in just 1.53 seconds, which is a 6.4% improvement over the previous model. The bike's bodywork features a totally new design and is engineered to offer more efficient aerodynamic performance. The graphics are applied using film insertion technology for sharper images and a durable finish. Additionally, for the first time on the CRF450R, an optional electric starter kit is available.
