Italian Championship - Ottobiano July 18-19
On July 18 and 19, the last race weekend of the Italian Championship before the summer break took place at the Lenovo South Milano Track in Ottobiano (PV).
In the SM4 category, Antonino Navarria #36 dominated the race weekend after securing pole position and winning both race one and race three; he finished second in the Sprint Race. Navarria won the day in both the Italian and International classifications.
Iacopo Arduini #05, after ranking third in qualifying, finished the first and third races in third position. In the Sprint Race, he had a slide that led him to finish in tenth position. In the day's standings, he placed third in the Italian classification and fourth in the International one.
Samuele Gaspari #47 also concluded the weekend with good performances: after ranking eleventh in qualifying, he managed to recover in the three heats with a seventh, an eighth, and a ninth place respectively, ending the day in seventh position in the Italian classification.
The overall Italian classification remained unchanged with Arduini in second place, followed by Navarria in third, who has narrowed the gap.
It was also a winning weekend for the Honda Red Moto Trophy riders: Michael Diodato #2 secured pole position, while Renato Cuomo #469 recorded the fifth fastest time.
In race one, Diodato slid on the first lap and was forced to make a comeback, finishing in second position; Cuomo took fifth place after a battle until the last lap for second place. In race two, Diodato won, declaring him the winner of the day. Cuomo finished fifth but still earned third place for the day in the Trophy.
"It was a very demanding weekend, but the results are excellent, a perfect performance by Navarria. Well done to all the guys for their constant growth. Now we're taking a break before the final Championship commitments," commented Team Principal Gilda Benazzi.
